Coffe Table with Carved Wood Scene
The coffee table has cedar log legs and a log frame. The carved wood scene was done with various tools including sanders. The dark colorations were created through wood burning techniques. Once the scene was completed, a self-leveling epoxy was poured to leave a nice smooth surface.

End Table & Fitted Carved Bowls
The end table was made from one solid piece of maple. It was a log that had rotted out in some places, so I worked with the piece to use its natural state to my advantage.
The bowls and the table were carved out and shaped to fit one another. You can see from the picture above how the wood had rotted to create the textures and color variations
The legs of the table were also carved out from the log; they are not separate pieces. With the varnish treatment, this once rotting log should last for many more years to come.

Archway with Flower Boxes
This was a project I did for my wife's birthday. It's a combination of both green treated wood and cedar logs. The painted tree accents were carved using an orbital jigsaw and then were ground down to give them their shape and texture. Morning glory vines were planted in each flower box and are growing up the sides. The archway was placed where the gravel driveway meets the yard. We flanked this piece with a couple of arborvitae trees.

Memory Stone Mainstay
This project was from the summer of 2012. The grand kids each created a stone with their hand prints and a recent photograph, which was laminated to protect it from the elements. Some decorative "jewels" were pushed it to give each one a unique look.
I created a free-form cedar structure that holds the three memory stones. Each one is held in by strategically placed pieces of cedar branches that were cut down and screw mounted. I added some branches at the top so my wife could safely set some potted flowers there. It's a sold piece of cedar log, so it's not light weight. Even the toughest thunderstorms and wind gusts aren't going to budge this thing. We keep it in a shady spot during the summer and wheel it indoors for the winter.
